REWARDS OF SOLITUDE
Jesus explained to us that when we make intimate prayer time and
intentionally staying connected with our Heavenly Father a priority in our
lives, there are great rewards that come with it. “When you pray, go
into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to
your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in
secret, will reward you in the open.” Matthew 6:6 AMPC
Rewards such as guidance the on decisions you make; experiencing God’s
voice and presence in intimate personal ways; peace in your mind and
heart; reduced stress levels; the wisdom of God to understand how the Bible
applies to your current situation; there are a countless number of rewards
that come from quality time spent between you and your Heavenly Father!
One of the rewards that was so profound for me is when I realized as I spent
time alone with God and had times of solitude with Him, the less lonely I
felt and the more connected I felt to God and others in my life.
There is a big difference in being alone and being lonely, as well as having times of
solitude versus isolating. Having alone time and times of solitude with God
is all a part of developing an intimate relationship with Him. While loneliness
and isolation are tactics of the enemy to keep you disconnected relationally
from God and other people.
What is one of the oldest tactics of warfare? Divide, isolate and conquer. You
counter and combat this through intimacy with God !rst and then by having
healthy God centered relationships with other people.
